The encaustic arts are inherently a metamorphic process as beeswax, damar resin and various oil paints and pigments (and whatever other found objects may be incorporated) are layered, mixed and blended with the help of direct heat - usually a propane torch. And the results are often alchemical in how what is created is original and unexpected, in fact something more than expected or intended. This show will display the works of twelve encaustic artist - divided evenly between the east and west sides of the state, expressing a variety of approaches and styles.
